Our Choice Matters more than we could ever have considered

On the Day of Pentecost when the Spirit of God came, Peter concluded what he had to say by challenging his hearers to make a choice. Would they repent and believe? Or would they refuse to heed what they had heard?

Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (Acts 2:38)

We are told that over 3,000 people responded positively and put their faith in Jesus as the Messiah, the Saviour of his people. The book of Acts goes on to tell many more stories of how people came to faith. What do you think you would have done? What will you decide today?

Life on earth is not the end. Death is a horizon over which we now cannot see. But Jesus conquered death. He came back to assure us that if we trust in him then all will be well. Death need hold no fear. (Paul makes much of this in 1 Corinthians 15). The choice is stark and simple: heaven or hell, life or death. That's why the Gospel was proclaimed with such urgency then and needs to be taken seriously today. Here's some avenues you might like to consider:
